Where to Book for Newcastle Restaurant Week 2023
Newcastle’s Restaurant Week is back!
Blackfriars
Friars Street, Newcastle NE1 4XN
0191 261 5945
Start your week as you mean to go on at Newcastle’s iconic Blackfriars. The purpose-built dining room dates back to 1239 here, and British cuisine is served at heavy wooden tables in the former refectory of the friary. This January the deal is three courses at lunch time for £20 or two in the evening for £20. Our choice would include a starter of curried potato velouté, followed by either the chicken and tarragon Wellington, or the pan-roasted cod, with the dark chocolate delicé and salted caramel ice cream to finish.
Grey Owl
94 Grey Street, Newcastle NE1 6AG
0191 261 8000
One of Grey Street’s most recent openings (and sister venue to the popular Hibou Blanc) is Grey Owl. During Restaurant Week diners can enjoy a light bite and a drink at lunch time for just £10, but if brunch is more your style, book a table and enjoy two dishes for £15. The menu includes classic eggs Benedict or Royale, as well as crushed avocado on toast, Turkish eggs or honey-glazed halloumi over Harissa beans.

Their sister restaurant Horticulture is also offering brunch and dinner deals for £15 and £20 respectively.
Tomahawk Steakhouse

Back again offering three courses for £20, head to the Quayside for an evening of flavour at Tomahawk Steakhouse. Although this restaurant is known for its delicious steak, there’s also chicken or vegan mushroom ravioli on the menu. Our order would be the winter roast squash salad to start, followed by the Himalayan salt dry-aged rump steak with fries, and a crème brûlée for dessert.
Roof Thirty Nine
