4. The Black Bull Inn
Known for its seafood, the Black Bull in Moulton’s ‘Celebration of the Sea’ menu features fresh Lindisfarne oysters and a variety of seafood platters. While they’re known for fish, they also serve steaks cooked in ‘Big Bertha’, their cast-iron charcoal-fired oven. 5. The Bull at Broughton
Sit under the parasols in the back garden of The Bull, a quality gastropub with a menu inspired by Nigel Haworth, a Ribble Valley culinary legend. 7. The Bull
Underneath the arches of a bridge crossing the River Ure is the garden of The Bull. 10. Blue Bell
Blue Bell have taken al fresco dining to heart: their enclosed sun garden is open all year, with parasols for summer and heaters for winter. Try their braised rabbit in herb bacon stew or their crispy duck confit with an orange and fennel salad. Food is prepared as you order so you may have to wait for your meal, but in such beautiful surroundings, this is a blessing rather than a problem.

11. Nunnington Royal Oak
As they proudly proclaim, when you visit this pub it’s not just a beer and a packet of crisps on offer. The Yorkshire pub is heavily inspired by the Tuscan fare the family who run it grew to love during their time in Italy. Expect seasonal produce, imports from trusted farmers in Tuscany and a special Italian evening menu. The outside beer garden and small games area provide a welcome to both kids and dog-owners.

12. The Pheasant
Watch mallards floating about the village millpond from the terrace of The Pheasant, which seats a cosy 30 people or so. Their tasting menu makes the most of seasonal fare and offers six courses of culinary delights such as Scarborough-landed wild bass and warm pistachio cake with coconut milk sorbet, with an accompanying wine for every course.
