Discover your local bakeries this Real Bread Week and find delicious artisan products across Yorkshire and the North East

Real Bread Week is taking place from 15th-23rd February this year. Put together by the Real Bread Campaign, it focuses on championing independent bakeries and nutritious, additive-free bread. Additionally, they also support Sustain, a UK-based charity focusing on enhancing the health and welfare of both animals and people through better food and agriculture practices. There's no better way to celebrate than visiting your local bakeries.

What could be better than a stroll on the beach followed by a trip to a bakery? PureKnead Bakery is situated in the heart of Whitley Bay, a stone’s throw away from its beautiful coastline. Beginning at the Tynemouth market, this bakery quickly established a loyal following, growing into the store and brand it is today. They offer a range of artisan breads, cakes, pastries and sandwiches. This family-run business is a local institution in North Shields. They began with their sister bakery, Eli’s and expanded to Pia’s, selling a full range of artisan breads, baked goods and pastries.
