Enjoy a Free, Fun, Family Day Out at Sunderland Food and Drink Festival
Get ready foodies!
Keel Square, High Street West and Market Square will be filled with fantastic local produce, mouth-watering street food stalls showcasing food from all over the world and live music and entertainment for all ages. Head to the city for three days of food and free family fun in the Sunderland sunshine, including face painting, caricatures, giant garden games, crafts, walkabout characters, dance performances and more!
As always, this event is entirely free to attend, with activities and workshops open to people of all ages. So pop along, grab a bite to eat and enjoy the festivities. You can look forward to more than 50 stalls and trucks serving a delicious variety of continental food and local produce to purchase – from burgers to bubble waffles, cupcakes to curry, noodles to nougat and lots more!
Local artists such as This Little Bird, Sara Leilah and Brass Monkey will fill the city’s streets with beautiful music. In addition, the whole weekend will be bursting with free, family-friendly live entertainment, including science shows, magic shows and more. The main stage will also play host to the world's favourite Take That tribute band (Retake That) and X Factor finalist and Capital Radio DJ Sam Lavery.
Look out for some familiar faces because this year, they have more local traders than ever before… Geordie Bangers will be serving up their smashing sausages, The Little Cakery By The Sea will have sweet treats galore, Sunshine Cooperative will stock plenty of local produce, and there will be loads more local eateries for you to delight in!
Those needing retail therapy can snap up everything from South American handicrafts and Turkish lamps to North African wooden ornaments and stainless-steel jewellery. Not forgetting the brilliant businesses on High Street West and Market Square for you to peruse.
You can quench your thirst with a wide choice of drinks from the many bars and trucks. Choose from Fair Trade coffee, cocktails in coconuts, local craft beers, an array of soft drinks and, of course, a decent cup of tea!
