As the weather gets a little nippier, it’s tempting to stay inside. But there’s so much to venture out to see and do this weekend

Here’s everything worth venturing out for this weekend.
Get lost in literature...

Durham Book Festival concludes on Sunday, but this weekend there’s a vibrant programme, with talks from Ed Balls, Val McDermid and Anita Rani. There’s also a full digital programme of films, podcasts and essays to sink into.

Wonderland

Take a trip to Wonderland…

Join The Station in Richmond on a journey back in time to the Victorian era. The Station in Wonderland is set to celebrate Richmond’s former pupil Lewis Carroll’s mesmerising classic, Alice in Wonderland – and there’s something for the whole family to enjoy, with traditional fairground rides, Punch and Judy shows, heritage tours, kids’ craft tents and even a Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea Party.

Leeds

Enjoy some live music…

The award-winning metropolitan festival is back – taking place across 20 venues and spaces around Leeds City Centre. Combining established acts from around the world and emerging local talent, Live at Leeds is promising an incredible weekend of live music you won’t want to miss. You can grab your tickets here.

Oktoberfest

Grab a stein (or two)…

Grab your lederhosen for a weekend of fun! Oktoberfest events are taking place across the North East and Yorkshire this weekend – but be quick to grab a ticket to Scarborough’s Oktoberfest, as this is the event’s last weekend, with the Yorkshire Oompah Band, refreshing stein and a huge selection of Bratwurst sausages to try. Newcastle’s Oktoberfest is also set to deliver oompah-lievable fun, as Times Square hosts an even bigger and better Oktoberfest after pressing pause in 2020. Get your ticket here.
