The Family Favourites at Newcastle Theatre Royal This February Half Term and Beyond

February half term sees the award-winning musical Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World visit Newcastle Theatre Royal (Wednesday 21st–Sunday 25th February 2024). This empowering musical with a soundtrack that packs a pop-star punch is from the producers of worldwide sensation SIX and is based on the popular book by Suffragette relative Kate Pankhurst.
The heartwarming tale has grown to delight and inspire audiences of all ages across the country, gaining it a nationwide following. The musical sees inquisitive heroine Jade break away from her school trip to the local museum and take a peek into the not-yet-open Gallery of Greatness where she is inspired by lots of incredible characters including explorers, scientists, artists and secret agents.
Based on the much-loved picture book by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury, (also being performed during February half-term), We’re Going on a Bear Hunt runs Friday 23rd–Sunday 25th February 2024. This mischievous celebration is the perfect treat for younger children, who can expect interactive fun and plenty of adventure.
Music, laughter, rhymes, rhythms and repetitions together with puppetry, paint, water and mud make this fun-filled adventure the perfect theatrical outing for all young families. Join the intrepid family of explorers and their musical dog as they wade through the gigantic swishy swashy grass, the splishy splashy river and the thick oozy, squelchy mud!
Bluey’s Big Play (Friday 8th–Sunday 10th March 2024), a brand-new theatrical adaptation of the BAFTA & Emmy award-winning children’s television series will visit Newcastle Theatre Royal when beloved character Bluey embarks on her first UK theatre tour with her younger sister Bingo, Mum Chilli, and Dad Bandit.

With brilliantly created puppets, live actors and iconic sets, fans of the popular TV show will get to see the cast as they’ve never seen them before. A huge ratings hit, Bluey is the number one show on Disney Junior in the UK and the number one rated show on CBeebies.
In the summer holidays, younger audiences can join Peppa Pig, along with her family and friends on their latest new adventure packed full of songs, dances and muddy puddles, which promises interactive fun and games for preschoolers.
A firm favourite with young theatregoers, Peppa Pig’s Fun Day Out (Wednesday 21st–Thursday 22nd August 2024), guarantees laughter and snorts for all and is the perfect introduction to theatre as characters sing and dance with colourful scarecrows, feed the penguins, build big sandcastles, and even swim in the sea!
