The Alchemist Comedy Night
1st September, Newcastle
The Alchemist, Newcastle is hosting its first ever comedy evening with a truly great line up. Join the team for an explosive night of laughs and lots of cocktails, as they showcase the best in comedy talent, straight out of the North. The bar and restaurant will host three comedians, including Lauren Pattison who was nominated for Best Newcomer 2017 at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards – we’ll see you there!
Freedom Festival
Until 4th September, Hull
Although this creative festival started on Friday, there is still plenty to see and get involved in throughout this week. Showcasing the talents of local and national artists, and performers across theatres, dance stages, contemporary circus, audio walks, music and art exhibitions, Freedom Festival is not to be missed. Ticketed events will be running over the next few days across Hull, including the showing of Arcadia, the captivating film directed by BAFTA-winning Paul Wright – plus, there are some free events to see too.
Ann Cleeves, The Rising Tide
3rd September, Alnwick Playhouse
Vera fans, this one’s for you. Head to Alnwick for an unmissable afternoon with bestselling author Ann Cleeves and crime scene investigator Helen Pepper as they walk through the murder scene in Ann’s new (and 10th) Vera novel: The Rising Tide. Harrogate Food and Drink Festival
3rd–4th September, Ripley Castle
From international cuisine, to fresh street food and fine artisan produce, there’s plenty to feast on at Harrogate’s Food and Drink Festival at Ripley Castle next weekend. Enjoy live music, chef demonstrations and lots of entertainment. Take a walk through the surrounding fields, or lounge on the deck chairs and sip on a cold beer, glass of champagne or cocktail. Tickets start from £8.95 for adults and £4.95 for under 16’s.
Teesside Restaurant Week
