Here's This Month's Foodie News From Yorkshire
Here's everything you need to know this month
A Year and A Day
The Old Liquor Store in York (housed in the former Terry’s chocolate factory) is celebrating its first birthday after opening in July 2023. A laidback Italian restaurant, bar and deli, this is a great spot whether you’re stopping in for a morning coffee (with homemade amaretti biscuits) or indulging in a special evening meal. To mark the occasion, the team are hosting a spectacular six-course tasting menu inspired by working class British canteen food on 27th June. Book your spot while you can.
THE PERFECT TIPPLE
The perfect remedy for hot summer days, a drink made with recently launched Nine Tines Potato Vodka, will go down a treat. This award-winning spirit is lovingly made with potatoes grown on a rural North Yorkshire family farm, making for a smooth and clean finish.

COOKING UP A STORM
From Masterchef 2022 Champion Eddie Scott comes his debut cookbook Misarana (£26, Quarto), meaning ‘fusion’ in Punjabi. The book draws on Eddie’s Indian heritage to bring together more than 90 delicious European dishes with a vibrant, authentic Indian twist. Hungry for more? Make sure to visit his new restaurant L’Opaline Bistrot in Beverley.
NEW KID ON THE BLOCK
Rhubarb is new to the fine-dining scene in Harrogate for 2024, and is lead by head chef Varun Khanna (who has a number of notable career notches in his already impressive belt including the Pipe and Glass). With sleek, refined interiors, expect a menu packed with classic British flavours elevated by modern techniques – the carefully-crafted tasting menu is definitely worth trying.
HERE COMES THE SUN
Just in time for summer, Shears Yard in Leeds has opened a brand new terrace for al fresco dining and a relaxed tipple or two. A real sun trap, this is the perfect place for an evening meal or after work drinks with friends and while you’re there, make sure to check out their seasonal à la carte menu which will bring you the best summer produce (the smoked mackerel tacos sound irresistible).
