Meet the Two Yorkshire Contestants in the Love Island Villa
Love Island is back in Mallorca for its 10th series and returned to ITV2 on Monday 5th June
Maya Jama will host and comedian and narrator Iain Stirling is back in the voiceover booth as the popular dating show airs this week, and joining this year’s cast are 21-year-old musical theatre performer and social media creator Molly Marsh from Doncaster and 26-year-old gas engineer Mitchel Taylor from Sheffield.
Molly lives on a farm with her mum, dad, sister, grandma, grandad, aunty, uncle, cousin, cousin’s husband, their baby and a chicken. She's the daughter of actress Janet Marsh, who you may have seen on Coronation Street. Molly claims she doesn’t use dating apps and describes herself as ‘quite old-fashioned’ so she’s hoping to find love in person in the villa. She says: ‘I think I’ll bring fun, bubbly, energetic little sister energy. I’m up for a laugh, I’m spontaneous and adventurous, I hope I can bring a bit of light and positivity to people’s day.’
But this isn’t her first time in the Love Island villa. She adds: ‘With my job being in social media, I’ve had some amazing opportunities to go on press trips and I’ve actually been out to the Love Island villas in Mallorca and South Africa. Having the experience to walk around both was amazing but to now actually live in the villa is going to be incredible.’
Mitchel says he feels like he’s known in Sheffield as ‘someone’s ex’, so he’s looking forward to a fresh start without any distractions. ‘I’m just really picky,’ he says. ‘I’ve got to find the girl that I want to marry and have kids with. I’m nearly 27, I don’t want to play the field anymore, I want to find the one.
‘I thrive on being a gentleman. I’ll shower you with flowers, I’ll take you on dates, I’ll fill your bedside drawer with your favourite sweets and chocolate. I’ve been single, I’ve had my fun, and now I want to settle down.’
As part of a variety of advancements to improve accessibility on the show, The Love Island series 10 participants will record self-descriptions to offer blind and partially sighted audiences the opportunity to get to know this year’s cast. They will be available on the Love Island YouTube page.
