World leading performer of The Snowman, Carrot Productions, returns to York as part of a spectacular national Christmas tour, set to land in 16 locations across the UK between 30th November and 23rd December 2024.
Following a hugely successful 2023 tour, the award-winning family show is available for one day only at York Barbican on Sunday the 22nd of December and will feature a bonus film in addition to ‘The Snowman’. Audiences can choose between ‘The Snowman and The Snowdog’ at the 1pm performance or ‘The Bear, The Piano, The Dog and The Fiddle’ at the 4pm performance.
Commissioned by celebrated printing giant Penguin Books, Carrot Productions’ performance of The Snowman’s beloved sequel, The Snowman and The Snowdog, showcases the orchestral work of its co-founder Daniel Whibley.
Daniel is the composer and arranger behind all of Carrot Productions’ shows, and has recently been making waves in entertainment and education; he created the music played by the BBC Philharmonic for hit educational CBeebies show ‘Musical Storyland’ as well as ‘The Musical Story of the Gingerbread Man’, a film that gained a cult following and has since generated millions of views on CBeebies iPlayer.
Joining The Snowman on tour will be the charming adaptation of David Litchfield’s best-seller, The Bear, the Piano, the Dog and the Fiddle. The heartwarming film is set to wow audiences with original music interspersed with extracts from the world’s most famous orchestral melodies.
The unforgettable Christmas show will be performed by the Carrot Productions Orchestra, featuring some of the country’s top music talent handpicked from the likes of the Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Concert, and the London Symphony Orchestra.
Both performances in York will also feature a fun, festive introduction to the orchestra, and children and their families will have the opportunity to chat to the musicians and even enjoy some music requests, alongside a much-anticipated appearance by the Snowman himself.
