Pretty in Pink

Award-winning cocktail bar Mother Mercy have recently taken over what was Decantus on Grey Street, opening Café Mercy. Continuing their signature pink theme, the cocktail and spritz café is serving Mother Mercy’s speciality cocktails alongside seasonal specials – we love the Marshmallow Fizz made with local Hepple sloe and hawthorne gin, rhubarb, rose lemonade and topped with a toasted marshmallow. Monkey Hanger Monkey Hanger

Legendary Sips

Get a taste of Hartlepool with a new gin, Monkey Hanger, which has launched in celebration of the legend of the Hartlepool Monkey. Hartlepool native Amelia Pearce originally started the business in the US but has launched Monkey Hanger in the UK, creating the small batch gin just a stone’s throw from Hartlepool. Made using only natural botanicals, fruits, herbs and spices, the dry gin replaces the traditional coriander seed with orris root, and reduces the juniper to achieve a fresh profile, balanced with elderflower, liquorice and saffron. Head to their website to find out more.

Nice And Cheesy

The Cheese Bar London have partnered with Yorkshire’s The Courtyard Dairy to bring a new cheese restaurant to Yorkshire. Offering seasonal British cheese-topped pizzas, cheese boards and baked cheeses, Rhind will be opening its doors near Settle this month. As well as a delicious menu which revolves around the wood-fired oven, there will be a carefully chosen wine list from neighbouring wine experts Buon Vino, so watch this space.

Flavour Forward

Showcasing five delicious cuisines from India’s coastlines, Ma-hé in Leeds offers tastes of Kerala, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. As well as a boutique bar, specialist cocktails and soulful cooking, expect fresh flavours across their range menu. We’d order the chicken 65 varuval (chicken coated in red chillies, tossed in yoghurt and curry leaves), followed by the spicy crab and coconut curry.
