In their first game of the season, Newcastle Falcons are ready to make a statement

All eyes will be on the Newcastle Falcons this September as they find themselves back in top-flight rugby action.

After a brutal pre-season on Tyneside, the squad return to the field on Friday 20th September when they host Bristol Bears in a 7.45pm kick-off.

In a statement of intent from a group determined to rewrite the narrative of last season, the theme behind the game is ‘100% Falcons’, where the club will showcase their improvements both on and off the pitch.

Last year’s campaign was certainly tough for the Falcons, who finished bottom of the Gallagher Premiership, but with the new season comes new hope. The Falcons have been working tirelessly in the off-season under the direction of new Director of Rugby Steve Diamond, further driven by their desire to make amends and prove their mettle.

The squad, a mix of seasoned campaigners and exciting new talent, has gelled well under Diamond’s stewardship, and players have spoken openly about the hunger within the team to ensure that Newcastle returns to being a competitive outfit and Kingston Park becomes a fortress once more.

The game against Bristol Bears is an ideal opportunity for the Falcons to set the tone for the season and begin the campaign on a positive note. Bristol, a team known for their dynamic and expansive play, will pose a significant challenge, but not one the Falcons will shy away from.

Off the pitch, fans are in for a treat as well. The Falcons have promised a much improved match day experience, one that reflects the club's ambition and desire to engage more deeply with their supporters.

Elaborating on the theme of ‘100% Falcons’, the Friday night fixture will see fans enjoy an enhanced atmosphere with the likes of a halftime crossbar challenge, merchandise cannon and the chance to meet their Falcons idols on the agenda.
