The Organic Beauty Products You Need Right Now
It's Organic September, a month aimed at raising awareness of the benefits organic farming can bring to our climate, nature and our health
Certified organic farmers and businesses work to a strict set of standards to ensure that their ingredients and products sustain the health of wildlife and nature, animals, the soil and people. Organic beauty products contain ingredients that have been grown on organic farms in a way that’s designed to respect nature, and enhance the health of our planet. And it’s not just the ingredients – the manufacturing process, and even the packaging, all impact on whether a beauty product is classified as organic or not.
In the world of cosmetic and wellbeing products, ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ are often used interchangeably, but they don’t mean the same thing. The term natural refers to what is contained in the product; natural sources, extracted from plants, minerals and flowers, rather than artificially manufactured. In contrast, the term organic refers to how the product and its ingredients are farmed. Organic agriculture is a whole way of farming that works with nature. To make things more complicated, unlike in the food and drink industry, the use of the term ‘organic’ is unregulated for beauty and wellbeing, meaning it’s harder to know which products use truly organic ingredients.
Luckily, we’ve done some of the hard work for you and here you can find some of our favourite organic beauty products to help you make the swap this September.
