Looking for somewhere new to try in the North East this month?
Bistro Best
Serving classical French dishes with a modern British twist, Newcastle’s Hotel Du Vin is the perfect place to enjoy a night out, or relax over a long Sunday lunch. Offering heart-warming traditional French food made using regionally-sourced ingredients, sit back and enjoy the buzz of the bistro alongside delicious food and expertly-chosen wines. Visit hotelduvin.com to find out more.
Shore and Simple
Seaburn’s latest shoreside restaurant, North, offers a taste of the sea, serving a selection of seafood small plates as well as meat and vegetarian tapas-style dishes. After opening in December last year the new casual dining restaurant has impressed locals with its selection of good food, carefully-selected wines and creative cocktails. Look out for weekly specials – recent dishes have included grilled sardines with garlic pesto and focaccia croutons, and mezcal-cured salmon.
Flipping Good
Following the success of their café in Roker and cake shop in Sunderland, Love Lily have opened their latest venue (with pretty pink and pastel blue interiors) in Herrington Park. Serving their famous fluffy pancake stacks and decadent sweet treats alongside delicious brunch dishes such as truffled mushrooms, brunch burritos and eggs Royale, there’s something for everyone here.
A Love for Local
Serving a seasonally-inspired menu where ingredients from local butchers, fishmongers and farmers take centre stage, Stock on Gosforth High Street create traditional British dishes with a modern twist. As well as a Sunday lunch menu which boasts 28-day matured sirloin of beef and Welsh Blacks porchetta, mains include seared duck breast, pan-fried seabass and girolle mushroom and black truffle risotto.
New and Noteworthy
Under new management, The Biddick in Washington offers an elegant dining experience with innovative dishes and a vibrant bar – perfect for evening drinks. On Sundays enjoy traditional roasts alongside seasonal sides, and throughout the week diners can enjoy hearty breakfasts until noon. If afternoon tea is more your style, book a table and enjoy tasty sandwiches, scones and mini desserts alongside tea or coffee.
