True crime and murder podcasts have hovered around the top of the download charts since the early days of podcasts, so it was probably only a matter of time before somebody started taking the mick out of them. A Very Fatal Murder is a satirical take on those very podcasts, following a fictional New York detective in search of the perfect murder.

Sleep podcasts are another massive genre. While The Sink: A Sleep Aid seems to start out as a sleep-aid podcast like any other, it soon takes a darker turn as the host claims to play back recordings of your dreams to allow you to ‘see yourself clearly’. Think comedy-horror with drama and sketches.

A podcast which parodies other podcasts, Burnt Toast Presents started out with a series in the style of investigative true crime podcast Serial, but centred on a missing toaster. Subsequent episodes have poked fun at different genres, from supposedly-informative history podcasts to personal empowerment talks.
