Family
July 2024
Reading time 3 Minutes

They've worked hard all year and a break could not be more deserved, but the summer holidays are also a great opportunity to keeping them learning on their own terms

With this in mind, here's our pick of the clubs and holiday camps kids will want to get involved in this summer (and the childcare doesn't hurt).

Teo’s Tennis at Swanland Lawn Tennis Club, North Ferriby

From 22nd June until the end of August, Teo’s Tennis will be running weekday holiday camps for ages four–13. We love how flexible the timings are for these camps, with options to book in for the full summer, one day a week, mornings, afternoons or any five hours that suit you. Most importantly, they’ll be picking up a skill that will serve them well into the future.

Young Engineers at Bramhope Primary School, Leeds

Young Engineers is an international organisation providing STEM-based kids clubs. They recently opened a branch in Leeds, and will be running two summer camps during August where kids will have the chance to learn about engineering and mechanics by building models that bring these concepts to life. Their holiday camps are suitable for children aged six–11 and will run from 5th–9th August and 27th–30th August, 8.30am–3.30pm at Bramhope Primary School.

Backstage School Week at Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough

These exciting holiday workshops give youngsters an unusual opportunity to try their hand at the behind the scenes crafts that shape our favourite theatre shows. From puppet-making to special-effects makeup, and costume design to lighting design, they will get a taste of it all over the course of five three-hour sessions. The workshops will be taking place from 23rd–27th July and are divided into a morning session for ages five–11 and an afternoon session for ages 11–16.

These activity camps for children aged between five and 11 take advantage of the fantastic facilities at Silksworth to offer jam-packed days of activities ranging from sports to drama, arts and crafts and inflatables. They encourage children to take part in as much as they can, but will try to find alternatives if there’s anything they aren’t so sure of. Their standard hours are 9.30am–4.30pm five days a week, but earlier drop-off and later pick-up hours are also available.
