The Tables You Need to Book for York Restaurant Week 2024
York Restaurant Week is back from 11th-17th March 2024
The Grand York
Station Rise
One of the UK’s top five-star hotels, the award-winning cookery school and spa is enough reason to visit The Grand, but this restaurant week its AA Rosette-awarded The Rise Restaurant Terrace & Bar is offering two courses from the set menu for £30 per person (every day, except Saturday). We like the sound of the baked Scottish salmon with crushed new potatoes, asparagus, unagi glaze and dill beurre blanc, and we wouldn’t say no to sticky toffee pudding served with ginger and pineapple compote and apple and mint sorbet.
York Cocoa Works
10 Castlegate
An independent chocolate manufacturer, you’ll find tasty treats to take away within York Cocoa Works or you can get hands-on and create your own. For restaurant week visitors can enjoy two classic hot chocolates and two slices of brownie or blondie for just £10, or craft their own chocolate bar for just £15. Both offers are available Monday to Friday.
Polymath
21 Grape Lane
Be one of the first to experience this new bar and restaurant which serves everything from tapas to Sunday lunch. This restaurant week, try three soft shell tacos with a choice of fillings for just £10, add a portion of churros and a drink for just £10 per person, or dig in to a Sunday roast and dessert for £20. Taco fillings include beer-battered cod, slow-roasted pulled pork, beef and portobello mushrooms. Sunday lunch promises a choice of 18-hour topside beef, confit garlic lamb leg or wild mushroom and sweet potato-stuffed peppers. Save room for the forced rhubarb crumble.
Tomahawk Steakhouse
Lendal Cellars, 26 Lendal
Serving Himalayan salt dry-aged steaks and Wagyu, Tomahawk is a go-to for good meat and even better cocktails. This restaurant week, diners can enjoy a starter, main and dessert from their set menu for £20 per person (Monday to Thursday between 12pm and 9.30pm, and Friday and Saturday between 12pm and 4pm). We’re ordering the parmo croquettas (trust us, they’re great), followed by their classic Himalayan salt dry-aged steak, and saving room for the decadent hot chocolate fudge cake.
York Minster Refectory
2 Deangate
Dine in this Grade II-listed, brasserie style-restaurant (formerly York Minster School) for amazing views of York Minster. This restaurant week they’re offering an impressive four-course set menu for £30 (Monday to Thursday between 12pm and 9pm and Friday between 12pm and 3pm). On the menu is roast chestnut mushroom veloute, torched mackerel nicoise, chargrilled breast of Yorkshire Wolds chicken and Whitby Rum-soaked baba.
Ate O’Clock
13a High Ousegate
Hidden down an alleyway draped in fairy lights, Ate O’Clock is an Instagrammable restaurant and lounge bar for a romantic date or a get-together with family and friends. This restaurant week they’re offering rump steak with a choice of any two sides for £15 per person (Monday to Thursday during opening hours and Friday until 6pm). The raspberry sorbet sounds delightful.
Ambiente Tapas
31 Fossgate
Fancy sharing? As Fossgate’s tapas go-to for a decade, this restaurant week Ambiente are offering three tapas dishes and a drink from their set menu for £20 per person (Monday to Thursday, plus Friday between 11.30am and 5pm and Sunday between 11.30am and 10pm). We recommend the honey and chipotle glazed chicken and chorizo kebab served with pickled red onion, freekeh and a pomegranite molasses, calamares rings deep fried in a buttermilk batter and served with alioli, and triple-cooked sagitta potatoes served with a classic spicy tomato sauce and alioli.
