These Pretty Pictures Were Taken By a Yorkshire Postman

Postman Adam Wilkinson shares his favourite photos taken whilst on his rounds in the Yorkshire Dales

Working for Royal Mail, Adam’s friends and family were interested in where he does his rounds and they encouraged him to share photos on Instagram. ‘It started off as a bit of fun but gradually I got more and more followers and soon hit 1,000.’ Royal Mail have also shared Adam’s photos on socials, and for the past two years he has created an annual calendar featuring them. ‘The Yorkshire Dales is a beautiful place to work in, so why not show it off at the same time, right?’ says Adam.
He can’t pick just one favourite photo. ‘Some of the amazing sunrises and sunsets we get up here have to be up there,’ he says. ‘Malham, Grassington, Kettlewell and Buckden all being ridiculously photogenic also helps!

‘I once managed to snap low-flying jets whizzing over my head near Bolton Abbey, and a Chinook helicopter landing up near Malham Cove, also a chicken which had found its way into the back of my van, and countless sheep convoys I've been stuck behind over the years. There's never a dull day as a postman!’
Adam loves working and photographing in the county. ‘Looking back at my photos, I suppose I take for granted where I work whereas some people aren't as fortunate. I've had people asking where certain photos are as they're visiting the area on holiday, which is always nice, and also commenting on how beautiful my “office” is (not when it's raining mind!). Yorkshire really is God's own county!’
