For adventurers
Kielder Village Camping & Caravan Site
Just outside Kielder Village, this campsite is the perfect base for enjoying Kielder Water & Forest Park. On the fringe of the forest, you have the opportunity for many miles of walking, cycle rides, and some of the darkest skies for star gazing. The site has all the facilities you’d expect, including a play park and bike rental, but there’s limited Wi-Fi coverage and no mobile phone reception. Warning – this campsite is populated with midges, so we recommend repellent, tea tree oil (and a flame-thrower if you have one).
Adults-only
Bamburgh under Canvas
With its sprawling beaches, majestic castle and popular shops, Bamburgh is the perfect place for a glamping getaway, and this adult-only glampsite just one mile from the historic village is a must-visit. Bamburgh under Canvas offers luxury furnished Lotus Belle tents with proper beds and bedding along with cooking or BBQ facilities. More importantly, full flushing toilets and hot showers are available on site, and they now also have a deluxe tent which has the added bonus of a wood-fired hot tub.

Only a mile from Bolton Abbey, this family-friendly campsite has amassed an impressive collection of excellent reviews, even going viral on TikTok. Previously a traditional dairy farm, at Catgill Farm guests will find a selection of uniquely styled timber pods, bell tents or pitches for the classic campers. With spectacular views across the Wharfe Valley, a stream that meanders through the site, and luxurious glamping pods that come with their own private hot tubs, it’s not hard to see why people love this site so much.

Aaron’s Campsite
Aaron’s Campsite offers rural, back to basics camping in the heart of Coiners’ country. With four fields to choose from, there’s plenty of space for every man and his dog. During the day there is plenty to do in the surrounding countryside, from hiking and climbing, to canoeing and kayaking. After a day of exploring, come back to enjoy a pint of locally brewed, award-winning ale in the on-site bar, before lighting your firepit (kindling, firelighters and a bag of logs can all be delivered to your pitch if it’s cold in the evening).
