Two Thrilling Fictions the LN Team Couldn't Put Down
This month our team has enjoyed an international bestselling thriller and a gripping novel set across Europe
LET THE RIGHT ONE IN
John Ajvide Lindqvist
Set in the suburbs of Sweden, Let the Right One In follows a young boy (Oskar) and his rather odd friendship with Eli, a 200-year-old vampire who lives in the flat below. Only coming out in the dark, with an ever-changing appearance, Oskar soon realises there is more to Eli than meets the eye, questioning her honesty when a local child is found dead in the forest. As the story progresses, we are shown that the real evils are things like alcoholism, unemployment and domestic abuse, and the different sides of the human spirit. One for the Stephen King fans.

CUT ADRIFT
Jane Jesmond
Jen is climbing in the mountains near Alajar, Spain when her brother calls worried about the whereabouts of their mother and Jen finds herself travelling to a refugee camp in Malta. Morwenna is there helping her Libyan friend Nahla seek asylum for her family, but within hours of Jen’s arrival, Nahla is killed leaving behind her daughters. As Jen and Morwenna try to protect them, so ensues a frightening people smuggling journey by boat. This gripping and fast-paced novel (the second in the Jen Shaw series) from writer Jane Jesmond is best described as unputdownable.
