What to do over the first weekend in November
November always starts with a bang…
Remember, remember the 5th of November…
Bonfire Night only comes around once a year, so make sure you get yourself out and enjoy some incredible firework displays. We’ve rounded up some of the best places to celebrate Bonfire Night here.
Go mad for musicals…
This weekend, why not sink into a seat at the theatre for a magical musical performance? The critically-acclaimed West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is currently showing at Leeds Grand Theatre until Sunday, and it’s fabulously feel-good, so grab a ticket while you can here. Over in Middlesbrough, Mad About the Musicals takes to the stage this Saturday, as Michael Courtney and his fabulous cast of singers bring the glitz and glamour of Broadway for an unforgettable evening of music.
Winterise your wardrobe…
The temperature is dropping, so if you haven’t added some cosy staples into your wardrobe yet, now is the time. Whether you’re looking for a bold addition to your coat collection, a cosy sweater to layer up, or some chunky boots to help you storm through those crunchy leaves, we’ve got you covered.
Book a staycation…
We all need a break from time to time, so why not book a gorgeous getaway before the flurry of the festive season gets underway? We’ve done the hard work for you by picking out the most sumptuous stays, so whether you’re looking to escape to bonnie Scotland, experience the beauty of Cumbria or stay in one of our must-visit hotels across the North East and Yorkshire, there’s still time to book that all important pre-Christmas break.
Have a laugh…
There's so much laughter to be had across the North East and Yorkshire this weekend. Family-friendly comedian Paul Chowdhry brings two years of pent up pandemic material to Newcastle’s Theatre Royal this Sunday, while TV-favourite Iain Stirling brings his renowned wit and humour to The Forum in Northallerton on Saturday. Over in Leeds, The Comedy Store lands at the o2 Academy, which remains the place to see tomorrow’s comedians today, with the likes of Eddie Izzard, John Bishop, Jimmy Carr and Sarah Millican all cutting their comedy teeth here.
All the fun of the Fair…
We had the time of our lives welcoming exhibitors and guests back to Newcastle Racecourse last weekend for Living North’s Christmas Fair, and we’re ready to do it all over again next weekend at York Racecourse. You certainly won’t want to miss it – grab your tickets here.
On your marks, get set, bake…
There’s nothing like a spot of baking to bring joy (and some delectable scents) into your household – and we’ve got some delicious autumnal recipes for you to try. This apple and cheddar clove galette only takes 15 minutes to knock up, or if you’re looking for a fun bake with the kids, these PBJ cookie sandwiches are sure to go down a treat.
