Support your sport…
This Friday, Newcastle Falcons are taking on Northampton Saints in their last home game of the Gallagher Premiership season and kick off is 7.45pm at Kingston Park. It’s going to be a big one so head on down (just avoid the North Stand if you don’t want to get wet). Meanwhile in Yorkshire, Hull KR head to Castleford Tigers on Friday for the final game before the international break. This match is on TV so you can stay warm indoors and enjoy from the comfort of your own home if it’s too wet.
Go out of this world…
It’s International Dark Sky Week and what better way to celebrate than with a trip to the observatory? We’re lucky to have some of the most beautiful dark skies above our heads here in the North East and at Kielder Observatory they’re helping kids to realise this early. Space Kids, taking place on Sunday, is one of their most popular events, designed to inspire, enthuse and educate. With the chance to ask questions, play with telescopes, build rockets and touch real space rocks, it’s an out of this world day the young scientists will never forget. Fingers crossed for a clear sky.
Head behind the scenes…
York Open Studios is an annual community arts event which represents the best artists and makers living or working within a 10-mile radius of the city and you can get involved this weekend. Visit artists’ studios and workshops around the city, and with over 150 artists taking part this year, it might be worth planning your trail beforehand if you want to visit a few. Works on display range from ceramics to digital prints, jewellery and illustrations.
