2 Church Lane
From fried chicken to hot dogs, loaded fries and a more than 12 types of burgers on the menu, 2 Church Lane has something for everyone. During this year’s Sunderland Restaurant Week, this popular restaurant located in the heart of the city is offering any burger and fries for £10, or any starter, burger, fries and a brownie for £15. We recommend the Churchy OG burger – a six ounce beef patty topped with streaky bacon, melted cheddar, confit onions and served with Churchy’s sauce. If you’re peckish and want a starter too, the halloumi fries or the Mac and cheese look delicious.

Proven People, the new venue on Burdon Road, are getting involved and are offering two deals including any pizza and fries for £10, or any pizza and small plate or dessert for £15 (excluding the crab pizza). We love the sound of the locally-landed king prawns with garlic, chilli and parsley as a small plate, and the roast duck pizza with hoi sin sauce, Fior Di Latte, oven roasted duck, pickled cucumber, spring onion and fresh coriander, finished with Szechuan salt, sounds delicious.

Tapas not your thing? Fear not as 808 Bar and Kitchen are also offering any pizza and a side for £10, and we love the sound of their spicy pie pizza – a tomato base with honey, parmesan, nduja and fresh mozzarella, topped with rocket, crème fraîche and chilli flakes.
