Pancake Day is the 4th of March this year - and we've got top tips on where to find the most delicious pancakes

From the best bacon and maple syrup pancakes, to Biscoff and raspberry, these spots have it all.

Fluffy Fluffy, Newcastle

Newcastle’s newest pancake spot has just opened on Grainger Street. Fluffy Fluffy lives up to its name with a selection of signature soufflé pancakes. With beginnings in Toronto, they made the Canadian staple their own as they incorporated the light and airy texture that East Asian dishes are known for to create their own unique pancakes. Find lots of flavours, from Oreo to Matcha, not forgetting the classic Nutella and strawberry.

Love Lily, Sunderland

Known for their pancakes and milkshakes, Love Lily in Sunderland is a must–visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. Their original venue is situated on the seafront, meaning you can enjoy a sweet treat with a view, and their range of buttermilk pancakes is unmissable. Whether you fancy something fruity with a banana, blueberry, strawberry and coconut stack or are craving something more indulgent like their Galaxy caramel brownie pancakes, there is something for everyone here.

The Dispensary, Newcastle

The Dispensary is a must–visit for pancake lovers. This eatery is a staple for locals with its range of stacked American–style pancakes. Choose from classics such as strawberry and Nutella, or try something new with their jam and custard, or apple and cinnamon crumble pancakes. Whilst you’re there be sure to try a speciality drink like one of their frappés or a candy floss hot chocolate.

Riverview Kitchen, Durham

Boasting the best pancakes in Durham, Riverview Kitchen offers delicious pancakes with a view. From their savoury bacon and maple syrup stack to their sweeter banoffee option, you won’t be left wanting. As an additional bonus it’s a dog-friendly spot too.

The Boatyard, Cullercoats

Take a trip down to the coast and try The Boatyard this Shrove Tuesday. Find this independent café on Cullercoats sea front, serving a menu of coffee and brunch items. They are a decade old establishment that source locally meaning you can expect the best from this venue. Their American-style pancakes are complete with berry compote, fresh fruit and maple syrup, additional toppings include ice cream and bacon bites.

Brew & Brownie, York

Brew & Brownie have been an institution on York’s Museum Street since 2013. They offer their American-style pancakes in stacks of two and four, with a maple syrup and bacon option for those craving something more savoury, or an apple and brown butter crumble for those looking for something sweet. Why not grab one of their specialist iced teas as the perfect refreshment?

Double Dutch Pancake House, York

Double Dutch Pancake House is a family-owned restaurant in the centre of York. Serving only pancakes and other sweet treats, and with dozens of options across the menu, choose one of your favourites or try something new. They also offer a ‘design your own pancake’ experience with countless options for toppings and syrups. Don’t worry about your little ones, as they are taken care of with a separate children’s menu. Let them get creative as they make their own pancake order with any two toppings and a drink of their choice.

The Cabin, Sheffield

The Cabin in Sheffield is a must–visit. They hand over the reins to you, from choosing a base (a two-pancake stack, French toast or a waffle), to any topping of your choice. If you’re feeling extra hungry why not take on their Pikes Peak Pancake Challenge, with a mountain of 12 pancakes and any three double toppings of your choice? They also prioritise eco-friendly packaging and ethically-sourced coffee from local producers.

Oliver and Rye, Leeds

Oliver and Rye is in the historic Queen’s Arcade in the centre of Leeds. Their hand-crafted, all-day everyday menu has something for everyone, particularly those with a sweeter tooth. They offer fresh waffles with berry compote as well as maple syrup and blueberry buttermilk pancakes. If you fancy something extra, why not grab one of their signature sweet treats from the counter?

Farmhouse, Harrogate

With locations in Harrogate and Leeds, the Farmhouse restaurants are a perfect spot for Pancake Day. The menu holds a range of choices, with a blueberry and banana stack as well as a Biscoff and raspberry option. Perfect for all the family, there’s a specially crafted kids menu, offering a stack of three pancakes with maple syrup.
