Win a Copy of Author Sue Reed's Debut Book The Rewilding of Molly McFlynn
To celebrate the release of The Rewilding of Molly McFlynn, we're offering three lucky Living North readers the chance to win a copy
This is Northumberland author Sue Reed’s debut novel.
In spring 2020, 15-year-old Molly McFlynn is uprooted from town life to live with her bohemian grandparents in rural Northumberland. Then she meets a girl in the woods who appears to be on the run. Martha is from the 17th century, fleeing from the witch finder and the men who put her mother, Ann Watson, into the dungeons in Newcastle. As Molly’s friendship with Martha grows, she finds and celebrates her true self and develops a love of nature – but, a local witch hunt takes place, they’re not far away from danger. Molly must stand up for what is right, help heal family rifts and come to the rescue in a moment of peril.
‘I wanted to write a book that bears witness to the healing power of nature, and to women whose stories are not known, who are unseen, but dared to be different,’ says Sue. ‘The othering of women and girls is nothing new, and in my creation of Molly McFlynn, I wanted to show a girl who learns that it is okay to be herself, that we do not have to create a false self in order to fit in.’
The Rewilding of Molly McFlynn is on sale in local bookshops and online at Amazon, Waterstones and at suereedwrites.co.uk.
