Win a Copy of Award-Winning Author Mari Hannah's New Book
To celebrate the release of The Longest Goodbye, we're offering five lucky Living North readers the chance to win a copy
The much-anticipated 15th novel by Northumberland-based crime writer Mari Hannah publishes in January.
Multi award-winning author and screenwriter Mari Hannah is the mind behind the Kate Daniels series of police procedurals and the Ryan & O'Neil and Stone & Oliver series. She’s a former probation officer who lives in rural Northumberland with her partner, who is an ex-murder detective.
Three years ago police officer Georgina Ioannau was murdered and her killers were never brought to justice. Now the prime suspects have been shot dead within hours of their return to the UK. Kate Daniels must confront her own past mistakes, and put her career, and her team's lives, on the line in this gripping new thriller.
Mari says The Longest Goodbye is a book she’s ‘never wanted to write’. Years ago, Mari was at home when she heard a radio broadcast about a female Northumbria police officer who’d been shot in the back while on duty. Her partber, a Northumbria detective, was on duty and she couldn’t get in touch with her. Mari’s partner wasn’t that unfortunate officer, but later she found out they shared the same name. The experience has stayed with her and was the inspiration for The Longest Goodbye. She says, 'the book was written with love and respect for the police family whose tragic deaths touch us all’.
